CEO, Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Center (GIC) Cheryl Yeoh, who assumed his post in April 2014 would leave the government agency on January 14, 2016.
The contract was originally 2 + 1 year has been shortened and the reason is not clear. And at the same time ordered the agency MaGIC search for replacement workers.
Develop a startup is not an easy task. Average considers MaGIC a big company but in fact it is a new startup that was 2 years old.
Officially launched in April 2014, MaGIC was originally aiming to become a center of entrepreneurship for all sectors, not just in the technology industry.
But within 1 year, 9 months, MaGIC better known as the "Silicon Valley of Malaysia" because it highlighted technology startups. This is certainly deviated from the original mandate of establishment MaGIC presented by Prime Minister Najib Razak on Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES 2013).
With a budget of RM70 million in 2014 and RM35 million in 2016, not many results highlighted the startup is not the technology and other industries, especially in rural areas.
However, under the leadership of Cheryl Yeoh, MaGIC managed to put Malaysia as a technology startup hub in the world, especially Southeast Asia.
He also successfully launched the e @ Stanforad - 57 entrepreneurs and 31 startups participating in the two-week program at Stanford University and Silicon Valley.
In addition, Yeoh also launched MaGIC Accelerator Programme (MAP) of which 52 startups around Southeast Asia participate make Malaysia known as the hub of technology startup
