SEHATI is a one-day event to educate and create awareness for Social Entrepreneurship (SE). Be inspired through success stories by social entrepreneurs and attend a workshop on the basic skills to venture into Social Entrepreneurship such as issue-based problem solving, business modelling, impact measurement and pitching technique.
The first speaker is Steven Chan from Dialogue in the Dark Malaysia. Stevens was an active businessman before he lost his vision in 2007 due to glaucoma. He has founded three organizations - Malaysia Glaucoma Society (an NGO), Save Ones Sight Missions Bhd and Dialogue in the Dark Malaysia (a social enterprise). They exist with the aim to educate the public to not take their eyesight for granted and also to empower and equip the visually impaired community.
His personality reminds me to my late grandfather. He also a blind man but have a big heart. He manage to raise up six of his children that success in their life. Even though he is blind, he never take anything for granted. He weave basket and sell it to the market. My late grandfather has taught me that education is important in other to success in life.
Al-fatihah for my beloved atuk, we miss you.
